Poetry goes Photography

Exhibition at the Center for Artists' Publications

"Poetry goes Photography" expands the acoustic dimension of the Poetry on the Road literary festival. Gabriele Witter has accompanied the festival photographically for several years. The result are portraits and photos that recall big and small moments of the festival, that evoke emotions and want to make them experienceable once again. The exhibition wants to overcome the documentary and make the emotionality of poetry visible. In cooperation with Poetry on the Road and the University of Applied Sciences Bremen

Reloaded

Konkrete Tendenzen heute

"Reloaded - Konkrete Tendenzen heute" shows with current artistic positions that concrete poetry and related positions are experiencing a surprising revival. In recent years, new editions of out-of-print or hard-to-find works have appeared, as well as countless editions, monographs, and work editions on the veterans of the movement. At the same time, quite a few young contemporary authors and artists have been influenced by concrete poetry and continue to develop it under today's media conditions and the influence of the latest artistic trends.

Im Inneren der Stadt

Künstlerpublikationen als Kunst im öffentlichen Raum

Exhibition at the Center for Artists' Publications

The exhibition project "Im Inneren der Stadt" takes up the changing constellations in and around public space and traces the question of the ways in which they have been mirrored, subverted, taken up or generally thematized in current artistic production since 1960. How do artists situate themselves in these contexts? And what strategies do they develop in dealing with them?

Unter dem Radar

Underground- und Selbstpublikationen 1965 - 1975

"The unloved term 'underground' encompasses hippies, beats, mystics, nutters, freaks, yippies, crazies, eccentrics, communards, and anyone who rejects rigid political ideologies ('It's a mental disease') and is convinced that if they just blow their own brains, the Bastille will fall on its own," wrote Richard Neville in his 1970 book Play Power - Exploring the International Underground.

ART IN MUSIC

ART IN MUSIC Werke aus der ACT Art Collection

Music and visual art can enable experiences of quite unexpected interplay and mutual influence. As an art collector and jazz producer, Siggi Loch has built bridges between music and visual art in exemplary ways. For example, he has inspired numerous musicians to write compositions to paintings and has not infrequently selected works of art for his collection that open up a dialogue with the music. Many international works from his collection can also be found as cover motifs on ACT Music's jazz CDs.

Der Raum zwischen den Personen kann die Decke tragen - Sammlung Ivo Wessel

Berlin-based software developer Ivo Wessel has assembled a distinctive collection that combines conceptual art with pictorial narrative. His special flair for discovery and his passion for idiosyncratic artists characterize the collection, as does his strong interest in literature and film. His fascination for the abysmal grotesque, but also for humorous and poetic forms, is striking.

Land in Sicht

400 Jahre Landschaftsbilder

Landschaftsbilder waren schon immer Ausdruck gesellschaftlicher Vorstellungen.

Berlin-based painter ter Hell (*1954) developed his own distinctive visual language in the 1980s. He combines elements of German Informel with those of the Abstract Expressionism of the New York School and combines them with elements of graffiti art. This results in works that combine a non-representational painting created in a direct gesture with subcultural forms of expression.

Künstlerräume

Werke aus den Sammlungen

15 rooms. 15 artistic worlds. The Weserburg once again presents highly diverse artists' spaces in an exciting sequence. The exhibition provides insight into the diversity and quality of artistic production today, which are impressively reflected in the Weserburg's collections. The artists self-confidently put their works and concepts up for debate. It is precisely in the differences, contradictions, and confrontations that come to light in the process that the Weserburg's artists' spaces respond to the complexity of today's experience of the world.

Komm und sieh - Sammlung von Kelterborn

The second exhibition in the series "Young Collections" presents works from the private collection of Kelterborn in Frankfurt. The focus of this extraordinary collection is on socially relevant, philosophically profound and politically explosive works by internationally renowned artists. The von Kelterborn collectors are convinced that art enables us to make "the present" comprehensible in its complexity, its contradictions and cruelties, but also in its thoroughly positive potential, and indeed to experience it through the senses and the mind. She is particularly interested in photographic and video works.
