Keep in touch

John Cage, Andrzej Dudek-Dürer, Robert Rehfeldt, Takako Saito – Künstlerpost in der zeitgenössischen Kunst

Cabinet exhibition in the Center for Artists' Publications

Letters, invitations, faxes, and postcards from artists are often works of art themselves. John Cage transforms his message into a mesostichon, in which the middle letters of the text, read one below the other, represent their own verse form related to the recipient. Andrzej Dudek-Dürer uses his graphic works simultaneously for his correspondence. Robert Rehfeldt writes and draws letters, which he reproduces as art letters and then adds individual greetings and stamp impressions.

25 Jahre ARTIC Magazin – Blick zurück nach vorn

Cabinet exhibition in the Center for Artists' Publications

Is ARTIC a magazine? Is ARTIC art? Is ARTIC a concept? ARTIC has driven booksellers, printers, designers, artists, authors and itself to the brink of despair. But maybe it also makes sense to do something that actually can't be done, because it turns the economy on its head.

Was Bilder erzählen

Kinderkulturprojekt 2017/18 von QUARTIER gGmbh

The impressions from the exhibition 'Proof of Life - Lebenszeichen' are processed in the temporary workshops in the participating schools, playhouses, daycare centers, children's and youth facilities. Many questions arise and inspire the children and young people to come up with ideas. Here, 30 professional artists work together with the children and young people to raise the 'treasure trove of pictorial experience' and support the creation of their own ideas about it.

What Paradise? - Sammlung Peters-Messer

I am not a piece of shit I am a piece of society - with letters powerfully painted on the canvas, the artist Bjarne Melgaard puts it in a nutshell: art demands its place in society. Since the mid-1990s, Florian Peters-Messer, a real estate entrepreneur from Viersen, has collected more than 350 works of contemporary, international art, which are being presented in this form for the first time in a museum context. The exhibition presents a pointed and sharply contoured selection of highly political, sometimes explosive works that address the social upheavals of our time in a critical, often oppressive way.

MESH

Meisterschülerausstellung der HfK Bremen. Karin Hollweg Preis 2018

The title MESH already hints at it: Art can also be understood as a fabric that connects and holds together. It is about meaningful references and connections in which the relationship between subject and community, between individual settings and their tense coexistence comes into view. This interconnectedness and interweaving serves as a model of thought for the master student exhibition of the Hochschule für Künste Bremen 2018. This year, 14 artists present their latest works. The entire range of media is represented, from drawing, painting, and sculpture to expansive installations, video, performance, and a kinetic sound object.

Where Does Your Heart Belong?

Werke aus der Signum Foundation

Appealing equally to the heart and the mind, the exhibition offers a glimpse into an outstanding Polish private collection. The works come from the Signum Foundation, based in Poznań but also located in Łódź and Venice, which was founded in 2002 by Hanna and Jarosław Przyborowski. Their range of media extends from painting to sculpture to performance and process art to photography, neon text works, conceptual art, and quite provocative and disturbing self-presentations.

Die Idee einer offenen Gesellschaft: Künstlerische Netzwerke im Kontext des Archivs Kees Francke

Cabinet exhibition in the Center for Artists' Publications

In 1945, philosopher Karl Popper called for an open society "in which people can breathe freely, think freely, in which each person has his or her value, and, in which society does not exert superfluous constraints on people." In the 1960s and 1970s, a new generation of artists began to create and reproduce artworks in the form of artists' books, magazines, newspapers, small mimeographed objects, postcards, graphic posters, and audio cassettes, among other forms.

Künstlerräume

In an exciting sequence, the Weserburg presents new artists' spaces for the fifth time. The artists self-confidently put their works and concepts up for debate. The exhibition thus provides insight into the diversity and quality of artistic production today, which are impressively reflected in the Weserburg's collections-supplemented by selected loans.

The Vague Space. Sammlung Christian Kaspar Schwarm

Christian Kaspar Schwarm is a strategy consultant and co-founder of the online platform "Independent Collectors". His collection, which is currently being constantly expanded and redefined, primarily comprises young international art by lateral thinkers. If one reads the names of the artists who have so far found their way into the collection of the Berlin resident by choice, one finds cross-media positions with a high political and intellectual claim. At the same time, there are installations and video works that encompass entire rooms and are extremely sensual.

The works come from a private collection that has not yet been shown publicly in this form. Proof of Life presents a precise selection of works by international art stars such as Louise Bourgeois, Jake & Dinos Chapman, Anton Corbijn, Tracey Emin, Damien Hirst, and Daniel Richter, some of which are room-sized and extremely impressive.
