Paint it blue

Werke aus der ACT Art Collection / Siegfried Loch

For years, a very special collection focus has been developing within the Act Art Collection of Munich jazz producer Siegfried Loch. Since acquiring a painting by Ernst Wilhelm Nay entitled "Blauklang" (Blue Sound), the collector has devoted himself in an increasingly intensive manner to the theme of the color blue. Thus, over the years, a thematically bound collection has emerged that revolves around the fascination of the color blue with works by outstanding artists of our time.

Love of my Life

50 Jahre Musikgeschichte | Fotografien von Siegfried Loch

Naturwissenschaften im Visier der Kunst

Since the end of the last millennium, a striking number of artists have been inflamed by a renewed interest in the natural sciences. They botanize plants, typify cow stains, build insect observation stations. They use scientific jargon, scientific forms of illustration, or create idiosyncratic models.

Jörg Immendorff

Werke aus Bremer Sammlungen und Skulpturen im öffentlichen Raum

After Jörg Immendorff's death on May 28, 2007, the Weserburg decided to realize a comprehensive exhibition of Jörg Immendorff in Bremen in collaboration with two private collections in Bremen. The background to this idea was the dream of placing a large sculpture by Immendorff in the public space of Bremen and to parallel this occasion with a comprehensive exhibition. This dream is now becoming reality. As a long-term permanent loan, a large monkey gate by Immendorff will find its new place of the future in front of the Sparkasse Bremen, Am Brill and another sculpture by the artist will be placed on the station forecourt.

Out of time

Werke aus den Sammlungen

Out of time has approximately the meaning of "out of time", "no longer current". Literally, it could also mean "out of time" and would thus meet the actual theme and intention of this exhibition. On display are primarily works that have to do with the experience of time: with lived time, with the progression of time, but also with the futile attempt to stop it. Some works also deal with the problem of representability, the possibilities and the impossibility to illustrate something, to bring it into the picture.
