Künstlerräume

In an exciting sequence, the Weserburg presents new artists' spaces for the third time. The artists self-confidently put their works and concepts up for debate. The exhibition thus provides insight into the diversity and quality of artistic production today, which are impressively reflected in the Weserburg's collections. It is precisely in the differences, contradictions, and confrontations that come to light in the process that the Weserburg's artists' spaces respond to the complexity of today's experience of the world.

Leuchte!

Design icon in the light of art

It is a classic of German design history - the Wilhelm Wagenfeld table lamp, known worldwide as the Bauhaus lamp. With its clear formal language reduced to the essentials, it is still an epitome of good design today. The exhibition at the Weserburg shows the design icon in an unusual light. Since 1995, 25 nationally and internationally renowned artists have been invited to artistically rework the luminaire. The result is a surprising variety of new works. They range from appreciative rebuttals to ironic commentaries to grotesque alienations.

The poetic work of the Scottish artist, poet and writer Ian Hamilton Finlay (1925-2006) goes beyond traditional forms. He also realized his poems as outdoor installations in the landscape, such as the large garden "Little Sparta" in the Pentland Hills, where he lived since 1966.

Marcel Broodthaers. Musée à vendre

The Collection Schmidt

Exhibition at the Center for Artists' Publications

"I, too, wondered if I couldn't sell something and succeed in life. For some time I have been good for nothing. I am forty years old. Finally the idea came to my mind to invent something insincere, and on the spot I set to work. After three months had passed, I showed the results to Philippe Edouardo Toussaint, the owner of the St. Laurent Gallery. But, this is art, he said, and I will gladly exhibit it all. [...]"
